I saw someone else post about this somewhere... but I have what is almost a rash on my upper arms, except it's ALWAYS there. It doesn't itch, it just looks horrible. Everynow and then the little dots will get a head and some will be like mini-zits... ??
Anyone know what this is? I've had it for as long as I can remember and now my little bro has the same problem.
Thanks ahead of time,
TAmmy

Yes they are annoying! I could have sworn someone somewhere posted about some type of oil or something and actually had a name for them, I'm trying to find out partially for myself, but mostly because my little brother has them now, he's 14, into sports and all that, and I just dont want him getting picked on because of them...

HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP I have the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most weird, my mother told me that she had them too at the age of 20 (I am 20 too) and as she growed up they dissappeared. But I need something, anything to get rid of them, I can't wear any short shirts at all.

What you all are describing is called keratosis pilaris...a common condition in which the pores get plugged with skin flakes...I found some great info on it with treatment options and the like. I hope this helps....
I have the exact same problem, I almost never wear short sleeve shirts I'm so self-conscious about my arms.
I was told to use a moisturizer from Neutrogena, I can't remember the name of it right now but it contains some form of acid which is supposed to help with it, I also saw that cosmetics expert Paula Begon (sp?) recommend it, I have yet to go out and buy it though, I never think to, but since summer is coming I better!

I have used that moisturizer, it is called Neutrogena Skin Smoothing Body Lotion (bump minimizing)
I found that it didn't work for my bumps but it is a nice smelling moisturizer, well then again maybe I didn't stick to it long enough.
It is a tall white bottle with a light blue/Lavendar cap.
disintegration, thanks for posting that link. I have this problem too, and have for a very long time. I find that keeping my skin moisturized helps alot.
OMG are you kidding me? Others actually have the same problem as I do???!!!
I've had breakouts on my arms for years now, and I think maybe it is attributed to PCOS!!!!!!!!!

One time when I was researching herbal meds, I read that a deficiency in Omega 3 fatty acids could cause small pimple like bumps on the upper arms. Has anyone else ever heard this?

i also have these. Had them since i was a toddler i think. My doc when i was younger gave me some medication cream but i don't use it anymore, was thinking of going and getting it checked out by a dermatogist though.
I agree with artsmom, I was actually told this was to do with a Deficiency in essential fatty acids other symptoms can be : -
Eczema-like skin eruptions
Loss of hair
Liver degeneration
Behavioral disturbances
Kidney degeneration
Excessive sweating accompanied by thirst
Drying up of glands
Susceptibility to infections
Failure of wound healing
Sterility in males
Miscarriage in females
Arthritis-like conditions
Heart and circulatory problems
Growth retardation
being the daughter of a dermatological RN, I know about so many of the skin conditions.. especially if I have them! I have KP on my upper ams, way upper thighs and butt (i can't be the only one!). There is little you can actually do. It does get worse and better and about the only thing you can do is use a cream like Eucerin. But sadly enough, you will pretty much always have it. Even when the bumps are gone, its still looks teh same (if you KWIM). Any questions ask
