Default Q about dose and meals

I usually take Met 3x a day. one with each meal. On weekends I sometimes just eat 2 meals. If I'm skipping lunch (due to a late brunch), can I skip a dose of Met???

I would not skip a dose, I would take it with a snack.

I usually take mine with breakfast, in the afternoon with a snack, and with my dessert.

It's best to try to take meals and metformin doses at the same times each day, but life happens. Since it is also best for us to eat several small meals per day rather than two or three big ones, I would suggest having a small snack before brunch on days like that. Perhaps as soon as you get up, have a half cup of cottage cheese and your meds. Then after brunch, take the next dose, then another with dinner, then at bedtime have a low carb snack again.

The metformin is prescribed by the day, not by the meal, so you should definitely try to get all of the doses in there somewhere.
Good question,
Sheri

I agree...you need that extra pill. Skipping that is 33% less drug than your body needs, and is significant enough to affect your body. Definetly work a snack in and take the drug then.

Good luck!
