Unhappy Q about dying hair?

Hi all,

Can dying your hair make hair loss worse? I`ve only recently noticed i`m loosing quite a lot of hair when i shower? It doesn`t seem to be that much thinner yet though!

Does anybody know why i haven`t had this before?

I had a failed IVF in november don`t know if this could be the reason!

I`ve always dyed my hair but since this has happened i`m scared to. Any advice?

Thanks xxxx

the failed IVF could certainly account for why you're shedding right now.

It's called Telegon Effluvium (fancy term for shedding)

It occurs typically around 3 months after some event. (childbirth, starting/stopping bcps, physical or mental trauma, etc)

It should calm down in a few months. If it doesn't then you might want to start getting some hormone tests to see if your androgens are too high or something else is off.

I've been going through bouts of high and low shedding for years now. I'm to the point where it's necessary to dye my hair because I'm so freakin gray now!

I'll sometimes notice a slight increase in shed after I dye it, but not much and it doesn't last. I think as long as you or the person who's doing it for you is using a gentle product you should be fine. I've even noticed that the dye has a thickening effect because it plumps up the individual hair strands and gets on the really fine colorless ones as well.

I think you'll be fine.

Crossing my fingers for you that you get your bfp soon!
