I am getting my first laser treatment on Thursday...yeah! I am having my chin, sideburns, and upper lip done (as well as tummy and bikini).
Here's the question. I know I have to be freshly shaved for this event, my cheeks have light hair and I am not having them done. BUT- should I shave that area anyway? Otherwise I will be doing chin, sideburns, and lip, they will be smooth as can be, but there will be an obvious line where the hair on my cheek starts. BUT- I don't really want to shave my cheeks because I don't want the hair there to grow back thicker/darker (and then need to have THAT done as well), plus, even if it doesn't grow back thicker, there will still be the telltale signs of regrowth, even if it is light hair.
Any thoughts?

I just shave the areas I'm having treated. (I have to do it pretty much everyday anyway.) It's really up to you. Personally I wouldn't shave anything I didn't have to. Perhaps do it at home and see if it's really as noticiable as you think. Then you can decide to proceed further.
I've had 2 treatments so far and my upper lip has the most obvious improvement. My chin, sideburns are taking a bit longer. I think I see a slight improvement but I'm holding off judgement till after my 3rd treatment.
Good luck

I just finished my 6th Gentlelase Tx, and you have to have a couple of days growth for the best results with that. The reason is, if you shave it smooth you can't zap the follicle very well. Please confirm with your technician.
Any hair you DON'T want treated, DO NOT shave...leave it as is. Fine blonde hairs will grow back thicker and you don't want that.
All the best with laser..it really works!

I thought I had been misinformed about laser. The reson I went with electrolysis at first was I had been told that I would have to have a certain amount of hair growth.
The tech said NO growth, I am to be freshly shaved on the day off. She said that if there is hair, it can burn and therefore burn my skin. My understanding is the laser goes about 6 mm into your skin and zaps the follicle there. (with this treatment)
I guess it depends on the kind of laser being used. Mine is Lightsheer
Ok- I will try not to touch the areas I don't want done, but I think its gonna look silly to have a distinct hairline where the shaving ends. Oh the indignities of pcos!
I am soooooo nervous!
