Question Question: Is 115 diabetic or prediabetic?

My mom recently had a fasting glucose test with a result of 115. She is also overweight (mainly in stomach/hip area) and has elevated cholesterol levels. Is she considered diabetic or prediabetic? I thought anything 126+ is diabetic level. Any clarification would help. I was diagnosed IR a couple of years ago but have been able to maintain my health by diet so I haven't really studied up on diabetes. Thanks in advance!

pre, warning to watch what you eat and start exercising, losing some sensitivity to your insulin, assuming this was done with a GTT.

Thanks! I thought that was what that meant. I've suggested to my mom that she might be insulin resistant for several years. Thanks for clarifying that.

I found the following info on a website.....

Fasting glucose. Your blood glucose level should be lower after several hours without eating. After an overnight fast, the normal level is below 100 mg/dL. If it is in the 100 to 125 mg/dL range, you have impaired fasting glucose or pre-diabetes. A result of 126 or higher, if confirmed on a repeat test, indicates diabetes.

That was such a clear explanation. I just wanted to be sure I understood correctly so I can be supportive to my mom as well as for my own health. Thanks!
