Question Question.....

Hi girls....just wondering- anyone know of a natural alternative to spironolactone? I take it as an anti androgen to help control my acne and stuff, and am looking to find something natural. (That I don't need a prescription for!) Thanks in advance!

It is called Saw Palmetto - it works for us cysters even though it is marketed for prostate health.
Note: Don't take it (or spiro) if you are TTC.

Thanks Bethers!! Just one more question, how much do you take? I don't know if you know anything about Spiro or the dose amounts, but I was on 100 mg of that....so I wonder how much Saw Palmetto I would need to take. If you can answer, thanks very much- and if not then thanks for the info anyway!

I don't remember the dosage - I stopped taking it when I started TTC.
You could always start with 1 tablet/capsule per day and see how that works for you. After a month or so, if it isn't enough you can up it to 2 tablets/capsules, and so on.

TTC means Trying to Conceive....I have taken spiro for a long time and had no negative side effects or anything, but I don't have health insurance and am trying to find a way around going to the Endo and getting a prescription....that's why I asked...I wouldn't be nervous about it..
