Does any one have any suggestions for me. I itch like crazy when I shave my legs. Nair burns my skin. I have no idea what to do. I can usually get by trough the winter shaving very little, but in the summer it makes me feel like big foots bride if I don't do hair control.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

WAXING! err ok. I get excited on the subject. I am like you. You even go NEAR my legs with a razor I start to itch like mad. I would have to shave and then put hydrocortisone cream on right after. Then I decided to wax. What a difference it made. The first time I had no reaction and I didn't have to shave for 2 weeks, and then the hair comes back slower. So I pay 25 dollars every month or so to get em waxed again. I hth!

i shave using babysoap.. the liquid kind... its so gentle and soothing.... AND it depends on teh razor.. IMHO Geillete Mach 3 is by far THE BEST... I used to get irritated and itchy but just using the razor helped and using COle's soap made it virtually itch free! HUggies has some with added lanolin or aloe too.
GL, RPA buddy!

How bad does it hurt? I tried one of thoose at home kits once and ripped off skin.
At 25 dollars, is that just the lower half of the leg?
Thanks for replying.

I also use a Mach 3 (man's razor), it's the only kind of razor that I can use. I used to get razor burn really bad and little cuts all over, I'm very sensative. Then dry and itchy afterwards too. So, I use a mach 3 and also use men's shaving cream (women's doesn't seem to work as well for some reason) and then afterwards I rub some Listerine on my legs to prevent shave bumps (found that from someone on this site and it really works) and then later on, I put some baby oil or cocoa butter on. No more itchies. I hope that helps. I've never waxed....tried it once myself but it didn't do anything. But lots of ppl swear by it and say it doesn't hurt too bad.
Oh and to answer your question...Veet is something that is sort of like nair, and sometimes comes w/a plastic razorless shavor, you put it on, wait a while, and then "shave" the hair off w/the razorless razor. I've never tried it so someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I can't use nair either which is why I've never tried Veet...I have been thinking about giving it a shot though.
Anyhow...good luck!

It is a hair remover. Not as strong as Nair. I can't use Nair for the same reasons you mentioned. It is a mousse. You spread it on your legs and wait for I believe 8 minutes and then use a plastic razor to take it off. I did test it on a small area only because of the problems I have had with Nair.

I also wax too, but occasionally if I can't get to the salon I'll shave. I always apply body lotion, liberally, to my legs after. Vaseline Aloe Fresh is fantastic and the aloe vera is very soothing, so I never have itchiness. At the same time, the benefits of wacing far outweight those of shaving from my experience - but yes it does kinda hurt, although the pain passes very quickly.

I have used everything I can think of to stop the itch. Lotions, oils, straight aloe gel, cortisone, itch creams - you name it and I have tried it. I will itch so bad over night that I wake up with blood on the sheets. I may have to try the Veet. I am interested in waxing, but nervous also.
