Question Question

I am on lipitor for high cholseterol(sp) and I looked it up and it is not to be taken during PG. I am also on met to help with TTC. The question that i have is should I call my DR and see if there is somthing else that I can take or should I wait until I become PG and then stop the med? It is a category X med which the risks to the baby greatly out weigh the bennifits that I get. What should I do?

Hi not sure i can help but my endo will not put me on any cholesterol meds or met due to I am ttc he says there is much to unknown about met & preg and the cholesterol drugs are way to dangerous which is scary for me my tryglycerides (sp?) are 759 YIKES I asked him about fish oil supplements and he doesn't agree with those either due to there is no known info on that and a developing fetus... so my advice would be to call and talk to your doc..

I think the best thing to do would be to call the doctor and ask. IMO it sounds like he/she will probably d/c it and may switch you to a safer alternative.

Hi! I would call the doc and ask if it is safe to take since you are ttcing. Maybe he could prescribe you something safer?

Just an update, I called my DR and he said to call my gyno and so I did. My gyno said to call the prescribing DR.... I called him back and he again said to call my gyno....GRRRRRRRR. I finally called the pharmacy and asked them and they said that I cant take anything for the high cholsetorel cause it can cause SEVERE defects in a unborn baby. It is a good thing that I am studing to be in the medical profession, cause I took it upon myself to look into it cause my DR's didnt seam to give a rat's a$$ about it. Thank you for all of the replies they helped me keep looking into it.

I was on high cholesterol meds when I became pg...doc immediate said no cholesterol medication...it is bad for the baby...so if you are ttc soon, I would talk to your doctor.

Good Luck...33 and finally pg here!!
