Default Question...

Like my previous post has said, i had two dr's tell my they think i have PCOS. I go to a dr tommorrow to see what can be done. My question is it seems everyone on here that has it has skipped periods or very light ones...mine are very very heavy. even with an IUD because of my fibroid tumors, when most women don't have periods at all, i have 3-6 days of heavy bleeding. does anyone else on here have that?

welcome to sc from what ive learnt here, everyones pcos is different. I have an iud (mirena too), and do still get periods with it. When i needed a new one my periods got heavier (more like they were before my mirena). I had one mirena for 4 years then got it changed.

Although I am one that had little or no periods when diagnosed with PCOS, I have heard of many women who are the exact opposite. So yes, it can go both ways. I think just about anything goes when you have PCOS.

Very heavy periods here! And WAY too long. I can't call it AF, but I bled for about 6 months straight a few years ago - it was terrible.

Welcome to the board

thanks all for replys. i go to a dr tommorrow and have so many questions for them already. i have the weight problems, acne, hair growth, heavy periods, when my dr's did blood work on me last year it showed my insulin levels were high and my male gene hormone was also elevated. i am hoping this dr. can give me some information on how to control this. i am not looking into getting pregnant or anything but i want help with this.
has anyone here used any medicines that helped with the hair growth or weight gain?

Mine were regular as far back as I can remember. I think the only time I needed BCP to regulate was in my teens.

I've never had an IUD, but I had the fibroids. Sorry for TMI, but Aunt Fl was horrid. Period was longer, extremely heavy with clots for 4 days, at least, and I had never been in so much pain before in my life.

Currently, the only medicine I'm on is Metformin. Haven't really noticed a change in the hair growth (although some do), but it has made a difference with losing weight. If your dr offers you an estrogen based BCP, run! My dr tried me on Yaz, and I didn't know the effects it would have on the fibroid until it was too late.
