hi all,
i've read a bit on the ttc board but haven't really been over here, i was hoping maybe you girls could give me some insight.. i'm 'lean' pcos (5'11, 143 lbs) and i do have periods. they aren't on a regular schedule, usually 28 - 40 days, and maybe 3 times a year or so they don't come at all. dh and i were not preventing pregnancy for 2+yrs and have been ttc actively for 1.5 although i just started charting last cycle (& have seen no sign of O) and have my first doc appt on the 23rd. so we are at 3.5 yrs no baby i know it is possible to have semi-regular periods and not O, i was wondering if maybe this is more common in lean pcos? and also i wonder if this has any effect on my chances of O'ing w/meds and/or conceiving? is it easier since i already get my period or does it make no difference? actually any info would be greatly appreciated, i haven't found many pcos women who really get periods at all... i'm confused. i know i should just wait and see what the doc says but i've found that many times the ppl on here know more about certain things than the docs seem to and in any case i am starving for info. do you ladies find you do better with met or clomid? since our bodies are more similar, maybe the result would be too...? thanks

Hi - I'm the lucky few who ttc on clomid and get BFP in relatively short time. I didn't have much side effects either, though I kept reading that clomid can drive other cysters really mad!
I can't tell you if this has something to do with being thin or not, but at least in my case, my ttc journey isn't that long. BTW, I also don't have any other pcos symptoms apart from irregular period & cystic ovaries.

I am also a "lean" pcos (5'9", 138 lbs). I have been TTC for 9 months, and have pretty regular, but long cycles (about 30-45 days). When I was temp charting I had a really short luteal phase, but I had a definite temp spike, so I am assuming I was O'ing. My doc recently put me on 100mg Clomid, which I started yesterday. I go in for an u/s next week, and if all looks well he will give me a shot which will make me O and then it's BD time. I am not sure if getting your periods makes it easier... but I hope it does b/c I am really impatient at this point!

I temp charted for a full year in 2005, had no O but got fairly regular periods anyway. I then took 2 cycles of clomid at the lowest dose, and got pregnant with my son. I'm ttc #2 now but not responding to clomid like I did the first time. don't know why--maybe because I'm older or because I gained so much weight when pregnant. anyway, elizabeth0531, I think you've got a pretty good chance of responding well to clomid. good luck with your dr appt. hope you get some answers.
