I am taking Met and trying to build up to my 3x day. I want to start taking a multivitamin, but i dont know which one would be the best. Also I am trying to get pregnant and trying to lose weight.
If so, lowering your insulin is the surest way to increase your fertility and encourage weight loss. A lot of pcos ladies are Insulin Resistant....Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas that processes sugars, carries them to the cells and stores the left overs as fat. Women that are resistant to insulin, their bodies crank out way too much insulin, and since the body doesn't use it all, it is forced to store it all as fat! And the sad part is, the more overweight you get, the more resistant to insulin you become, because fat causes a hormone to be released that closes the doors of the cells.
And THAT is why drugs like metformin work so well for most women...the lower your insulin resistance, the lower body fat you have. That naturally makes you more fertile.
So take your metformin, eat a low carb/sugar diet and exercise regularly to bring down that insulin level.
Also, take a multi-vitamin with vitamin B and folic acid...Women on metformin long-term tend to get deficient in B vitamin and folic acid is good for developing babies...significantly lowers the risk of some birth defects.
All the best!

I started Gluco Xr on Sunday, having to go to the bathroom very often now!! How long will this last??? I hope it's all worth it!!
I'm IR and was wondering what type of foods to stay away from to help me lose the weight faster. any advice would be appreciated!
I try to avoid sweet food, and greasy food, as this is what I've read here about met and side effects. And I always take met with food, and try to drink lots of water.

Pixiestic......
Since u are TTC anyway, u might want to consider pre-natal vitamins... u can get a recommendation or script from ur doc or go to a health food store and check out what they have on the shelves.
Tridgy.......
Sorry u are suffering the dreaded met side-effect. Its hard to say how long it will last. everyone is different and deals with the se's differently. In my case the "difficulties" lasted anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks. Of course it may also depend on ur diet. Try going low-carb (if u are not all ready, if u are, try going a bit lower) avoid greasy and fatty stuff. Some people say coffee is their down fall on met, some say salads.....its just a matter of trial and error....keep a food journal and that may help.
Take met with food...normally doesn't have to be a big meal, sometimes just a glass of milk will do it.....eating frequent small meals throughout the day helps.
