Question Question about Alesse

First of all...Hello to everyone ...I think this is just the most wonderful and informative site about PCOS.

My doc has just put me on Alesse and I am wondering if anyone else is or has taken it and it did good things?...I have read many post about it being terrible and just wondered if anyone had anything good that came from taking it?

I was on Yasmin for 3 months and had to go off it because I had a non-stop period the entire 3 months I took it...I did see a definate improvement in clearing up my acne and my hair stopped falling out and was actually thicken back up, until I had to stop taking it...Then the acne returned and my hair started falling out again.

I also started the South Beach Diet in August when I found out I had PCOS and have now lost 38 lbs...And am hoping not to gain weight because I'm taking BCPs

Right now the doc has me taking Alesse, Spiro (I don't know how to spell the whole name ) and Wellbutrin XL....Please if anyone could let me know how you did on the Alesse I would so appreciate it.

Thanks,

Mish

Hi,

I am also on Alesse. I am on the generic one called Aviane. I have been on it for 3 weeks so far and I have not had any problems with it. The only problem I have had is spotting here and there but nothing major to worry about. I am only on it to regulate my periods. Before being put on it I would only get my period every 40 to 50 days or so. I just went on it to regulate that and to help with my PMS. I was diagnosed with PCOS in April 2004. I also tried Wellbutrin XL and couple of months ago and had to go off it because it just sucked for me. Now I just started Effexor XR last week and so far so good.

I used to be on Alesse, I didn't have any problems with it. I started it to regulate my cycles, which is did for me. I switched to the generic and it kinda messed me up, so I didn't take it anymore. I later became pregnant, and had a miscarriage. This was all before my PCOS was diagnosed. I didn't take anything after the miscarriage until I had a new dr. after we moved and she diagnosed me and started me on Metformin. Since then I got pregnant again and we have a beautiful four month old son.
