Default Question about Alesse

I had surgery two weeks ago to see if I had any cysts. Today I went to the Drs to get the results and finally get dx and meds that might help me. Well, the Dr told me I had some cysts here or there and that he would put me on bcp to control it. This was his only solution, but that's another story. Anyway, he prescribed Alesse. But, when I got home I was perusing this site and I checked out some sites that some one posted about choosing bcps and on one of the sites it said that Alesse wasn't very good for women who have pcos, with acne, and facial hair. So, I was wondering if there is anyone who has taken Aless and has acne and hirituisim(spelling?), and what your results were. Or if anyone who knows if what is on the website is true or if I should trust the drs opinion. Thanks in advance.

They did surgery to see if you had cysts??? I thought they could just do an ultrasound for that.

As for Alesse... it is supposed to be one of the not so good ones for PCOS. Somethingm about being low dose + the progestin being more androgenic, I think. However... I did really well on Alesse. Lost weight, my hair lessened, my hair loss stopped... unfortunately I had breakthrough bleeding on it so I stopped using it. If it hadn't been for the bleeding I would have loved to stay on that pill. No mood problems, either, and that's usually my number 1 BCP problem...

I took Alesse twice actually. I really liked how I felt on it except it did worsen my acne and possibly my extra hair. Acne is my main problem and I wasn't willing to go back to it. Like I said though I did feel great on it so was sad to quit . The progestin has more androgen effect than some other pills. Hope this helps! Try it awhile and see.

Thanks so much for your replys. I made another appointment with a Doctor who is more familiar with PCOS so I will feel better with what he prescribes, plus the other Dr wouldn't prescribe me Spiro, because he said he wasn't a specialist. What you guys said is what I read also, thanks for the information. I wont be filling that prescription.

I am on Alesse and my doctor said that it is suppose to help with the facial hair and help clear up the acne. I really like it so far. I am finishing my third month right now. I hope this helps you.
