I posted this in a thread but I wanted to get some other opinions. I had a pos HPT 10/20 at 11DPO. Good first betas, 34.9 on 11 then 78 on 14 DPO. This last Saturday, I was 5 weeks 1 day preg and I started bleeding. I bled for 8 hours, didn't pass any tissue or clots, and it resolved on it's own. I had a beta redrawn on Monday (5 weeks, 3 days) and got a 3201. I had it drawn again today, 48 hours later, and got a 4913. The doc said he wanted it to increase by 70% and it didn't so now I have to have it redrawn Friday. From what I can tell, I still have like 16 hours to actually DOUBLE my Monday's beta right?
I'm about to lose it.

I don't know anything about betas because I didn't have them done, but I wanted to say congrats and good luck! To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Beta doubling times tend to slow a bit as your pregnancy progresses. Check out betabase.com for the average doubling times and beta scores for women. You can select for just your age group to best reflect your situation. Also, you can plug in your beta numbers to see your doubling times. Try not to worry too much! Good luck!

You beta numbers don't look that bad. I was always told that they should increase by about 60% every two day. I wouldn't get too upset yet. I would be just keeping in touch with my doctor about the bleeding though. Lots of women have some bleeding during early pregnancy.
My doctor won't even do betas because he thinks they are cause for worry when lots of times there is not much you can do about a poor beta number.

So here is the deal with beta hCGs: each baby/pregnancy produces a different amount of the hormone so it is really difficult to say at 5 weeks you need this much hCG. Really the concern is that the numbers are increasing (by 66.7% every 24 hours)--if there is a draw that does not meet criteria we would always do a follow up draw to see what it shows.
Hopefully the bleeding has resolved and it is will be peaceful bliss from now on out!

Stephanieannie-It's every 24 hours? I thought it was every 48 hours until 1200?
I wish my doctor didn't do betas either, I think I'm going through a lot of heartache and not getting anywhere.
And thanks, I'll look at betabase.com!

Your numbers don't look bad. But, aren't outstanding either. Betas cause so much panic it's unreal. Are you going to atleast be getting an u/s to see if there is a sac? Try your best not to worry and see what tomorrow brings. It's not too long of a wait. Try to take a deep breath. My first beta was 16! I paniced horribly. Were all here for you sugar!!!

My doc wont' order an US unless I "insist" because at 5w6d, there is no heartbeat. And really, there has to be at least a sac to get a 4916, right? It's just whether or not there is anything in that sac next week.
I'm definately in panic mode. My preg symptoms have remained though and I'm trying to keep optimistic about that. This is way worse than the 2ww.

I don't want to scare you or anything, but if it were me I would be demanding an ultrasound to check for ectopic. If you had bleeding, and slow rise in beta's, it's a definite possibility. And at nearly 6 weeks, you should see something on ultrasound anyway. I hope all goes well for you To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. I mentioned that yesterday on the phone but I'm not having any pain. I'm thinking about lying and telling them I've developed pain just to get the damn thing.

Betas are so different with everyone.. mine was 66 and we didnt even re check it..just used ultrasound. At 66 we saw nothing..not even a sac, i went back a week later at 5w2d and there was a sac and a tiny tiny hb. Try not to stress..i know easier said than done! Take care of yourself and congrats to you!!!!

I thought with an ectopic you didn't have any pain until you're rupturing/about the rupture?

Oh, well I don't know then. I thought if it were tubal that there would be pain as soon as it started expanding. But you're probably right about the ectopic. I've had a headache since yesterday so I'm hoping that doesn't mean my beta has started to drop.

Headaches are normal in early pregnancy, so I wouldn't take that to mean anything. In my first pregnancy I had constant headaches for the first 8 weeks. To ease my mind, if it were me, I would do what I could to get the ultrasound...just to know everything is ok. If it meant telling a little white lie like 'oh, I've got some cramping', I'd do it. I hope everything is ok, and all this worry is for nothing.

I think you're right. I'm having my beta redrawn at 1pm and then I'll call the office and tell them I want it done before the weekend. I'm 6 weeks today, SOMETHING should be there.
