Exclamation question about bm's - possibly tmi

i've been taking metformin for about 4 months now and it's all been going well until the last month. i didn't have any real side effects - maybe the odd bout, but now i am having major diarrhea after i eat. it doesn't matter if i take the pills in the morning and then wait till lunch time to eat; an hour after eating i will have to run to the toilet. i was in the middle of a shop today and i thought i was going to have an accident!!

it's also not very nice when i do go - this is the tmi bit - does anyone pass mucus? i haven't had a proper bm for a while now and it leaves me feeling very sore, nauseus and tired.

i know other people have had problems like this, but my main concern is the mucus bit. if anyone can help, i'd be grateful.

i'm exhausted LOL/Cry

i am thinking that perhaps my 13 lb weight loss is due to the fact that i don't seem to be digesting much of my food :(

i was taking fortamet and was just getting the hang of it and the side effects were subsiding when i switched to regular met and now let me tell you i am having bm's just like that. it sucks sooooo bad and even though youve been on it for awhile and its back again. im sure it probably has something to do with your diet. too much acidic foods, fatty foods, sugars or carbs can cause this....which means like everything i eat is turning into liquid hell!!!! ha ha! i guess you just have to train yourself to deal.

I'm experiencing the same thing. It haven't been keeping track, but it's been probably 6 months on met for me and the bouts of diarrhea are unpredictable. I know to expect it the day after I eat salad, but other that I never know what's going to set it off because it doesnt happen all the time. I hope it doesn't last forever, because I have to plan every thing I do around my eating and bathroom trips.

Red face

I was on a very strict lower carb diet and was eating a lot of fresh veggies and lean meats but was still getting to have a few carbs mixed in there...I dropped 25 lbs and thought that I would treat myself to a "Big Ole Chocolate Ice Cream Waffle Cone"
well.......

BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! I barely made it home....now i have learned that i cannot have anything real rich or sugary otherwise I pay the price almost immediately.

You have to be really careful not to get dehydrated especially if you are going after almost every meal. I tried to take Immodium and Pepto....not a good idea...your body is getting rid of the food for a reason. My mom compares it to the ways he responds if she eats the wrong things after having gastric bypass surgery...You begin to learn what will bring it on faster than other things and start staying away from them

Good Luck!!!!

the mucus in you BM might be related to dairy...not sure but I know that if I eat too much dairy i get mucus showing up in the BM
