Hi. Ok, so here's the situation I find myself in. Back in Dec 2005, my OB gave me a script for 50mg Clomid and 1500mg of Metformin. She told me to start on the Met right away, and start the Clomid on cycle days 5-9. Well, I started the Metformin, but never got to use the Clomid because I got pg from the Met. Fastforward to now....I've been TTC #3 for a few months now, and my OB just upped my Met to 2000mg bc the 1500mg isnt working like it did before. I still have the Clomid, and the package says its good until Aug 2008. Does that sound right to you? 2 1/2 years seems like an awfully long shelf life for a medication. But I'd like to take it with the upped Met, just to see if the combo works. My insurance covers the Met, but not the Clomid. And we dont have the money to pay for it out of pocket. So can you ladies help me? Is this Clomid ok to take? Or will it either hurt me or just not work? Thanks so much!!

My father is a pharm manager. He has said for somethings shelf life can be as many as 4 years. If the doctor gave you a script for clomid I would take the one you had... but also check with the local pharm to make sure that everything is ok and it matching the script the doctor gave you. good luck...

I had been thinking that maybe it was a misprint or something. I never really paid much attention because I never had to use it. Anyway, I called the pharmacist and she said that if it's in the little packets that have to be pushed out the back to get them, then the date is accurate. She said those kinds of meds have a much longer shelf life then the ones in a bottle. She said they're just as good as the day I go them, so YAY!!! Guess I'm trying Clomid this next cycle along with the upped Met. YAY!!! Hope it works!!
