Question Question about cramps... (warning, privates mentioned)

I was wondering, I was talking to my sister about my cramps and mentioned that I was having cramps down at my privates. They're actualy the muscles right at the vaginal opening. She seemed to think this might be weird, since she only only gets them where her uterus and ovaries would be. I know things vary from person to person, but she did get me wondering. I feel kind of weird asking others where they get cramps, but I figured I could check with you gals here. Is this normal? Let me know what you think.

Thanks!!!!

I am sorry, I just had to reply, I hate when 20 million ppl look @ a post and none of them answer....

Good luck!!!

Thanks for the tip. I'll see what I can find.

If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Pooky was my nickname in high school too. I'm a big Garfield fan and some say I'm like a teddy bear. Big on hugs.

:p

I've had cramps that just absoluty ACHE in that area. It's hard to describe in words without the benefit of hand motions to help you get a clear picture of where and how I hurt, but I'll give it a try...

... the pain feels like there is pressure from the inside pushing down and out of my body all along where you would sit in a bicycle seat. It's an unrelenting, intense ache. The description doesnt do the pain justice (as if it really deserves any!).

Close to what/where you feel???

I get the same type of cramping. It feels like my uterus is trying to come out. LOL. It's awful, especially when I have to be on my feet that first 2 days of AF. I usually volunteer to do all the slicing that day so I can stand by the slicer with my legs crossed. It helps a little bit.

Yeah Lanaface, it is kind of hard to describe without showing someone. I went and found a pic I could use that might help describe where they are a little better.

I went to yahoo health and looked up the word vagina. I followed the link that says "Vagina (Other)" and then clicked on the link for images. I guess the area where I'm feeling the cramps would be on the pic they have on the left with the entire female reproductive anatomy. It would be where they point out the labium minora.

It sounds like this is where Lanaface is describing her cramps.

Tricia Dooyema, is that where you're having cramps too?

The pain is sharp instead of dull and achey, like what I get in my abdomen and back. I remember wanting to grab the armrest of my chair. They were pretty intense. I remember the pain feeling kind of like the muscles were tightening up down there. I know when I was looking around last night trying to figure it out I didn't think it felt like there was some pushing down. *scratching head* But maybe it was. Maybe the tightening feeling was actually me reacting to the cramps. Hmmm...

AF still isn't here so I might get them again. I'll keep myself super alert and if I get them again I'll try to figure out more details about what it feels like.

I have gotten these same types of cramps but it usually is on the 18th day of my cycle. It's a quick sharp pain right in the "who-who" area. These pains have woke me up out of a sound sleep. I wish I knew what they were but I haven't a clue. I wish I could be more help. I always forget to mention it to my gyno. so I have never found out what is causing it.

Good luck,

Gotta go look at those pix on yahoo... my cramps are definitely an intense ache, not a stabbing pain, altho my sister says she gets sharp stabbing pains like someone's shoving a knife up there.

I'll let ya know if the pix are where I hurt...

Cramps might be one of 2 things (had them, been there, done that and ask Dr )
The whole women with PCOS having abnormal cycles, and hormones out of control, sometimes PCOSers have some odd periods. Anyway, it can be from your uterus being "extra thick" enough to weigh it down and actually put pressure on your cervix and anything else in the way, which includes the network of nerves running around that whole area ( the nice sensitive spots that a woman has, no better way to put this). If you have long cycles, or heavy/long periods, it could be that.
OR...ugh...any hormonal changes can have a effect on you that you'd never think of. Anyway, starting your period can change you bowels and either you're constipated or the extreme opposite. If you're constipated in the right area, again that can push on everything in it's way and put pressure on things that are already swollen from AF and cause some cramps/pain.

I usually take tylonal and flexeril (flexeril is a minor muscle relaxer I take for fibromyalsia) but I take that at night with a nice warm bath and it usually goes away.

try a long warm bath and if you think your BM are changing/changed, take something for that to get it all out of there.

LOL TMI kinda post sorry should've warned ppl!

Ok, had them again a little this morning. They were real minor, but I didn't seem to have that pressure feeling. It just semed like the muscles tightened up.

ReneeBeth

The extra thick lining or digestive changes may be some of it. I usually have some type of digestive problems the first day or two of my cycle. This month I probably have an extra thick lining too, 'cause last month was super light.

I started a little while ago and right before and currently I'm having cramps where my uterus would be, so that's normal.

Oooh, this was weird. I just had this feeling like a shooting nerve thing. It started, I guess about where my cervix is and then shot down to where my weird cramps were.

Looks like we might have cracked the case of the weird cramps! The extra thick lining thing would explain why it doesn't happen every month and why the severity of the pain varies.

Well gals thanks so much for all your help. I really appreciate it.

Default fair warning - TMI coming right up!!

extra thick lining... THAT seems like an answer! I have actually found pieces of tissue (ME tissue not toilet paper tissue) when I changed pads. And no, they weren't clots - don't ask how I know! You don't need the visual! Trust me!!

I remember telling my mom when I first got my periods when I was young that it "feels like my insides are falling out" and she said, "Well, baby, they kind of are." Makes perfect sence.

Just wanted to say.. I get the "ache'" feeling too. It gets like so bad I want to punch someone.. Theres no way to make it go away.. I usually get it like the first 2 days of my period and then its better.. like right now Im on my 3rd day and havent had it today (knock on wood) .. But anyway, just wanted to say I have this too!

I also have had these "aches" down there. I only got them when I was on Yasmin, though...no other BCP gave me that type of pain. For me, they were always on the first or second day of my cycle and even aleve wouldn't take the edge off. I found the best thing to do was lie in bed, in a fetal position for a few days, watching movies!! Just kidding about the movies (although they do tend to distract you from the pain), but even walking a short distance would make it worse, so I would always try to avoid going anywhere, during the first few days of my cycle.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but it's just nice to know that you aren't the only one! Good luck!!!
