Default Question about cysts

If you have cystic ovaries, do the cysts pop, shrink, go away...... I can't find any information about this.

Yes, yes, and yes.

Depending on the cyst, it can either go away, pop, or shrink (shrinking usually means it's getting ready to go away).

I had one last year that was 2 inches and it went away (thank God). It was causing me a lot of pain. Some women have cysts which can get as large as grapefruit and never know about it until they go to the doctor. I've cut caffeine out of my diet and I've taken fish oil (which is an anti-inflammatory). I'm also on birth control which is good for cyst control.

Thanks for your reply!

If a cyst pops, would the contents of the cyst come out in discharge?

Not to my knowledge. I'd research that. I think many times you know you have one that's bursting (feels like appendicitis from what I've been told), but I'm not sure if you actually see the contents. A lot of cysts are on the outside of the ovary, so when they burst the fluids are re-absorbed by the body.

BTW, cysts come and go with your cycles. Usually if you have one, chances are it will go away on its own in a month or two. When they get to the size mine was, then doctors practice "watchful waiting," where they'll give you an ultrasound after a certain time period to see if the cyst has reduced in size, and if it hasn't, then they may or may not take surgical measures.

It could happen...that they come in discharge...but you wouldn't see much maybe thicker mucus, or a little bleeding. (that's what I have noticed but also could just be where my cycle was)

If they pop though you'll know...oh yes you'll know.

Sorry I'm still new here and trying to understand everything, what other anti-inflammatories could one take besides the fish oil?

None that I know of, just something with Omega-3s. I guess flax is okay too, but it's not as good as fish oil.

Ok...Calendula (which has a nice taste if you make it in a tea like I do), Plantain Root.

It would also depend on inflammation of the...? what exactly?
I might be able to come up with something more if you can explain more of what's going on.
