Question question about diabetes

i have hyperinsulinemia. i have been warned that i am border line for type II and to be careful. both my parents are type II and they suspect my brother is or is borderline also. i have been feeling funny lately. like my sugar is off. i have on of my moms old gucometers so i can check it if i need to. lately i've been checking more often because i feel "funny" more often. i don't low carb like i should and i am on 1500mg of gluc. xr for the pcos. so my questions are these. at what point should i bring any of this to the attention of a dr? what should sugar levels be? how do i test properly? and if i AM having problems with my sugar, but i'm taking gluc, what will they do to help? up my gluc? or move onto insulin? or are there different meds? and how will this effect the fact that i am ttc'ing?

thanks so much for the help!

It is my understanding that your sugar level should be between 60 and 120. The levels will vary according to when your last meal was. If your levels are above 120 I would tell your dr asap. I am a firm believer in reporting any abnormalities to the dr and have them addressed.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 almost 4 years ago, and I have it on both
sides of my family. What the dr. did was 2 separate blood tests, about a week apart, where I fasted for at least 8 hours. If your blood sugar is over 126 both times after fasting, then you'll be DX'd as diabetic. n I general try to keep my sugar between 80 and 120, but it's not easy....at least for me! Each person is different in how they respond to treatment. Talk to your dr. about all your options.....you might be referred to a dietician to help out.

Good luck and let us know how things go.
