Default Question about Diabetes

Can I ask a question, do you have to have sugar in your urine to have Diabetes ?

I fear that maybe I do have Type 2, but my doctor says I don't and I also went to the hospital not too long ago and they said my blood sugar was fine.

But my thirst and hunger has gotten worse, so has my hirsutism.
Even my hair isn't as thick as before.....which is one side affect that hasn't been a major problem for me until now.........it just seems that I have gotten so much worse within the past couple years.

Again, I have to look for another doctor, I've been calling a number of them but they're not accepting new patients.

Well, I'm probably going to be single for the rest of my life, never have a baby, grow a beard, go bald, and end up on America's most wanted for stealing a couple vitamins and saw palmetto from a health food store.

At WalMart for about $30 you can buy their brand of glucose meter, and for about $30 a vial of 50 test strips. With that you can test your glucose right at home and see if you're getting high readings. That way, if you ARE, you can take that information to a doctor and SHOW it to them as the meters save your readings.

How long has it been since you've had your thyroid tested?

What kind of diabetes test did your doc give you? Was it an A1c test (not great for diagnosing) or a fasting oral glucose tolerance test (where you drink something icky for them and they test you every so often for a few hours)? Or did they just test your morning fasting right there at the office?

I most recently had the fasting test and just the random as well......I haven't done the other test in years because my doctor insists I don't have Diabetes and so does the hospital when I recently went there.

My thyroid is sTSH 4.03 (the value is between 0.35 - 5.00mU/L.

Well, the glucose tolerance test (where you fast and then drink the glucose and they jab you every so often) is about the most accurate diabetes test. If that came back clear, and you've not had any random readings over 180 then you've tested clear. I asked about the A1c because some docs use them diagnostically which they aren't meant for.

Has your doctor tested you for Insulin Resistance??

Do you monitor your carb intake?

Your doc has said you don't have diabetes....all well and good, but has he offered any ideas as to what IS wrong with you or done any tests to find out?
