Default Question about DX and Labs

Hey everyone,

I'm fairly new to this board and new the idea of me even having PCOS. I changed regular docs and went in for my "getting to know me" session, and when I left he said he suspected I had PCOS. So for the last few weeks I've been having labs done and doing research. Do any of you know what these could mean? Or if I truely am PCOS? My next step is talking to him again and then finding an Endo. Thanks!!

Symptoms:
*Hypertention
*Weight gain/trouble lossing (OBGYN said it had to do with my biochemical reaction to the BC I was on)
*And just got my results back today that say I'm Insulin Resistant/Glucose Intolerant
* Regular menstrations.. Never had irregular menstrations.. I've been on BC for 7 years, until till Aug. But even in my teens, I was always regular
* Sudden increase in Acne (around my chin)
* IBS

Lab:
Normal Estrone: Follicular Phase: 30-100
Ovulatory Phase: >150
Luteal Phase: 20-40
My Estrone: 270.. I should not be on my Ovulatory Phase- I O'd last week, so I should be in the Luteal Phase.. So I my Estrone is HIGH

Normal Progesterone: Follicular Phase: 0.1-1.5
Luteal Phase: 2-28
My Progesterone: 0.71.. Since I O'd I should be in the Luteal Phase.. So my progesterone is Low

Normal ALT: 10-35 ALT is a liver enzyme.. My doc's nurse said elevated levels could indicate cysts in the body or random inflammation
My ALT: 44 Now / 22 in June- So it has doubled

Normal AST: 8-38 AST is similar to ALT
My AST: 63 Now / 34 in June- So it also has doubled

And my DHEA was 290, but I don't know what exactly DHEA is, so I cannot find a normal value for it.

I also kind of suspect that I may be pregnant, I am a week late for my AF, sore boobs (never had this before), random emotional crying, lol. I had them do a blood HCG test (preg test) And it came back < 2, But this doesn't tell me anything..
HCG weeks past Ovulation-
1 week is 0.01-0.04
2 weeks is 0.3-0.10
3 weeks is 0.10-1.00
5 weeks is 5-10

So < 2 could be up to 4 weeks past O. Grrr... Can't they just say not preg or a specific value? LOL

Can anyone help decipher this for me? Thanks!!

I would say with that level you are not pregnant. You can wait a week and take a home pregnancy test.

Just because you had regulare periods as a teen doesnt mean that they wouldnt have started to become irregular during the last 7 years when you were on BCP's. The bcp's were keeping you regular. The only way to know if they would be irregular is come off of them for a while over 3 months and see. However some women do have regular periods with PCOS.

BCP's can cause some to gain weight. however they allow me to lose weight. Part of your innability to lose weight is your insulin resistance.

Your alt and ast being elevated could indicate something as simple as you taking something prior to getting the lab work. Such as tylenol. However it could also indicate something like a fatty liver which is common in PCOS pt's. They have been doing research and are actually coming to the conclusion that Metformin and a low carb/sugar diet helps with a fatty liver. even though some dr's will take people off of met because they think it is making the liver enzymes elevated. This is not what the latest research shows.

Not sure about the other lab levels though. I hope you do get some answers.
