Default Question about electrolysis

Hi ladies - I had laser done about four years ago and it was awesome. I have some light hairs on my chin that are funky looking, like they grow in a weird direction of the other peach fuzz type stuff and they are longer and slightly more coarse. I know a touch up laser treatment won't touch these because they're blonde so I've been thinking about electrolysis. My biggest fear is the pain - how bad is it?

I think it's on par with how the laser feels as far as on the pain threshold. If it's only a few hairs, you will just feel a little pin prick, but will be over quickly. There are different ways to perform electrolysis, and not sure the mechanics, but one is a rapid fire that basically cauterizes the hair follicle and the other is a slow fire that changes the chemistry of the follicle, making lye or something. I've had electrolysis both ways done and pain threshold was about the same. Didn't like the slow fire method, cause she couldn't get to as many hairs per minute like in the quick fire method, but the results from the slow fire method tend to be better from what I understand. good luck with it! Is it true that laser can't work around the nipple area due to the darker areola? I just want the hair there gone and it's one of the areas I can grow out for electrolysis.. I'll take the pain if it can at least significantly drop the numbers or length of hairs there..

You can take the pain if its only a few hairs...it's like a pinch and it's well worth it!

From what i've been told electrolysis is for the areas with less hairs, and laser is better for areas with a lot of hair, like your legs or bikini area.
I've never heard that. Many women here have gotten laser on all parts of their body...small and large.

Well, I sucked up and went to get electrolysis. I have to say it wasn't as painful as I thought. I think it actually hurt less than laser to be honest with you. It's more of a warm, heated sensation than anything. The biggest advantage was the hair was gone immediately - no waiting for it to fall out or having to shave it. It was a lot cheaper, too. I paid over $1000 for all my combined laser and this was $30. Plus, I know they're never coming back. To me, that is priceless.

Quicksilver, for electrolysis to work you have to have many sessions usually for about a year to a year and a half. So that would be $30 x the total number of treatments you need. I personally love electrolysis and have been doing mine for a year and love the results. I have spent around $900 for my lip, nipple, and chin hair...... and TOTALLY worth it! The hairs are practically gone and I go only once a month now instead of once a week. (Laser didn't work well for me --- except on my legs)
