Question Question about Gluc XR

Hello Cysters!! I just recently was put on Gluc XR 2000mg a day, but my Endo Dr. wants me to start at 500mg and work up to 2000. My question is, has anyone here experienced any weight loss or decrease in acne/facial hair while on gluc and how long did it take to see a result?

Thanks so much!!

Hmm....maybe I should have tracked this better, but I didn't think about it at the time. I have been taking glucophage xr for 11 months. I started feeling better a week later (brain fog started lifting), and I started losing weight immediately. I have lost 60 pounds in the last year (only 30 more to go!) with a combination of glucophage xr, regular excercise and the ir diet. I was on yasmin until sept of last year, when I switched over to clyclessa. Because yasmin did not work for me, my skin did not improve nor did the hair on my head start growing back until I switched bcps. However, my skin went from oil slick to dry within two months once my cycles were under control. I have achieved the flawles face that I haven't had for years. I have had an increase in unwanted hair since stopping yasmin, but it is not nearly as bad as when my pcos was out of control, so the gluc probably helped with that also. I doubt anybody else notices besides me! I do contribute the success I had battling alopecia to the glucophage. I have a ton of new growth that has sprouted up on my head within the last two months. I laugh when I look at the mirror because I look like a frizzy haired little girl again with these wispy little curls around my face!

I wish you the best and hope that you get the results that you are seeking. However, if you don't notice changes immediately don't despair. I noticed it more than other people would probably due to the fact that I am hypoglycemic. But it takes a long time to regulate hormones that are out of whack, so don't be surprised or disappointed if changes come gradually and not overnight. Even baby steps get you close to your goal!
