I haven't found a doctor yet and it's getting time I need to. Any recommendations on finding a good one (one who isn't going to lecture me about my weight and blame every problem I have on being fat would rule) and also, is it standard for a GP to prescribe anti-depressants if they are needed? Thanks for any help.
BTW, I live in Oakville if it makes any difference.

Hi Dara,
I believe that because of the shortage of doctors finding a good GP that is accepting new patients maybe harder than you think.
Try calling your local hospital and see if they have a list for doctors accepting new patients(since the college of physicians and surgeons seems to be completely useless when it comes to updating their database). Hopefully someone in the meanwhile will have a recommendation for you.
Good Luck!
I usually just call the doctors offices and ask the receptionist which doctor is taking on new patients. It's sort of a trial and error process. It took me a couple of years to find a doctor that I REALLY liked. You could also ask your friends and see who they recommend.
Oh, and yes, my GP prescribes my anti-depressants.
