Hi ladies! I have a question for you all. If a woman is taking a BCP, and while her body is adjusting to it, she bleeds a bit even when taking the hormone pills, is it still equally effective against getting pregnant than if she didn't bleed at all? I didn't know if the bleeding indicated that it wasn't working full force yet. I know you should wait for a month while on the pill to ensure not getting pregnant, but the above question applies to the second month of being on the BCP.

Breakthrough bleeding on the pill (bleeding while on the active pills), particularly in the first 3 months is not unusual. If you are taking the pills as directed, at about the same time everyday, then you are not at increased risk of getting pregnant. If you are missing the occasional pill, then that is a different story.
