Question Question about increased dose of Metformin. HELP PLEASE!!

I've been on 1500mgs of Metformin since last July. My Dr. increased my dosage in mid May to 2000 mgs because my insulin was still high. I've been very regular with periods since starting the Metformin in July. Every 31 days like clockwork. This month (june)my period was 35 days??? Why the sudden change??? I am ready to jump to all sorts of wrong conclusions and say it's not working right. But what's going on??? I thought it would make things better. I also started the South Beach diet last month and have lost 14 pounds so far. Could that have affected things?? I'm just really confused. Of course were TTC # 2 and I was completely off in my O day because of it. Any ideas ladies???

Thank you!!!

Allie

I don't really have any great advise for you but Just want to give you some encouragement. I went from 1700mg met to 2000mg met and didn't have a change in my cycle. But just remember that we all respond diffrently. It could just take a little while for your body to adjust. Imo, weight loss can have a huge effect on your body, so it is very possible that the combo of the higher dose of met and the new diet you are on is effecting you. I would recomend that you give it a couple of months to see if your cycle will straighten its self out.
oh, just another fyi, my little sister just started on met, she took 500mg the first week then 1000mg the second week, then 1500mg the third week, it took her two and a half months to get AF, then nothing, so her Dr. just upped her dose to 2000mg. I am really interested to see if that will make a diffrence for her. (she has only been takeing the 2000mg for three days now)
I really hope that everything works out of you.
Also, if your Dr. is open to sugestions, you might want to check out an avandia/ met combo, that is what worked for me
