Default Question about IUI procedure and cost

I will be starting IUI treatment in November and I know nothing about it. Could someone explain the procedure to me and the cost involved. My plan does not cover any fertility treatment, so I just want to be prepared.

Thanks.

Back when I was doing IUI's a few years ago at TCART it cost us $300 for 1 insemination, or $500 for 2 consecutive inseminations + the cost of meds which was between $500-$1000 a cycle.
For an IUI the sperm is put in to a needle like syrynge(with out the needle) the very tip is inserted into your cervix and they plunge the washed sperm into the urterus. It's quick, easy & not painful at all.
Hope this answers your question...
Good Luck!

It's pretty expensive, but worth it. Thanks BeetleGirl.

I just had mine done this past June...

Cost for me was $350 for the first (included cycle monitoring and insemination) and a second was $180 (but they told me I didn't need to do the one the next day)... I was put onto progesterone suppositories at $30 for 12 (did a few packages - but lucky they were covered by DH's drug plan)...

As BeetleGirl said, it is totally painless... Takes 30 seconds...
Just a heads up you may experience mild/etremely light spotting afterwards, which is quite normal... Also after I did mine I was so scared to go to the bathroom afterwards, which too I found out on here that it is normal too (it's like you don't want to loose the little guys afterwards)...

Good luck... Babydusting to you...

Kolorkube,
Has your clinic not told you the cost?
What clinic are you working with?

Thanks for all the replies ladies

My doctor and I have only discussed that this method would be next if I didn't become pregnant with the meds alone. I didn't inquire about any costs yet, perhaps I should.

I'm at the New Life Fertility Clinic in Brampton.

Congratulations on your successful pregnancy Catwoman2005!!!!

My insurance paid for my meds, but not the procedure. It was $300 which included the sperm washing. They didn't offer any type of discount on consecutive tries. It was just $300 each time.

My insurance doesnt pay for the meds. last injectable cycle i had was about 2000 in meds as i was a slow responder that cycle ( 18 days of stims) and then 200.00 for the sperm wash. That has been the most expensive cycle yet
