Question Question about laser hair removal

Hi, For those of you who have had laser hair removal, how long did it take for you to start seeing results? How many treatments? I just had my first treatment on my face with the alexandrite type laser and I don't notice anything different. I have mostly dark brown & some light hairs and fair skin. Also, has anyone tried both types of laser treatments (1 for light & 1 for dark) in the same area? If so, what were the results? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Thanks, Mamas

Im having my 3rd next week. I cannot say what type mine is but here are my facts:
In 7 to 10 days after, the dark hairs just seem to fall out. I lightly pluck and if they slide out easily i go with it..I then have to wait 8 weeks in between. My white hairs don't do anything, I still pluck them. I noticed that the dark hairs took forever to come back in and they are finer then before. This is what should happen until they don't come back at all. I am supposed to have 5 but I think my 2nd tx wasn't really a full tx so I suspect I will have to have 6. Hope this helps

Thanks for your info! I read somewhere that the hairs would fall out, but it's only been 3 days for me & nothing. I guess I'll wait & see. I was told not to tweeze in between treatments (very hard for me), but that I could shave (weird to me). I'm having treatments every 4 weeks because my hair grows back so fast. Anyway, thanks again.

Cool

I had my first laser treatment 7 days ago, I can't tell a difference yet. But can't wait until I can. Just curious- is it noticible when the hairs start to fall out? Is it a drastic difference after the first treatment? or does it take awhile to notice? I can't stand this shaving!
Thanks!

You should start to see a difference in the next few days. Its cool when the hairs slide out.. I would brush my hand across the underside of my chin and I noticed a great difference. The other great thing is the regrowth does take about 6-8 weeks. I gained confidence eventually as they took so long to grow back. Im getting tx number 3 tomorrow and i can't wait. I have gone from daily maintenance to about once per week and Im not even done with treatment yet. Over the x-mas holiday i went on a 5 day trip and never once had to pluck. I do shave but i do it in the shower and i loved not having to get into the mirror for several days.

Yeah...would any one like to share price ( or even ballpark figures)? I live between Lexington KY and Cincinnati OH, and could get it done at either (cheaper?). I would love to have some idea what the cost is so I can start saving!

The price can vary. At my dermatologists office it was very expensive! I found a lady who is a RN, she charges $150 the first time, and $100 for each treatment after. She said it would probably take 7-10 sessions total. $1000 bucks to be hair free- definitely worth it! Hopefully it will work!

Default I got mine done too

I live in a small town and had to travel to San Antonio to get it done. I had let my facial hair grown out a little so that the person doing the treatment could see where I needed it. As she was doing the laser treatment my hair started falling out right away. My face was red and swollen for about 2 or 3 days. Then I started tweezing the rest out and it was easy. They didnt grown back for about 2/3 months. Shame on me I never went back it hurt when they zapped me, but then again so does waxing and I do that once a week (Ouch!). She charged me $150.00 for cheeks, chin, and upper lip. I am thinking about going back. A close friend of mine had the same thing done. She only had to have 3 treatments and that's it. You look at her and you would never be able to tell she had facial hair. Now that is motivating!!
Good Luck!

Oops! Anyway, It's been a week now & I've noticed the hair getting thinner & I can pull a few out easily. Now I'm excited about future TX. On my first TX, I was only red for about a half hour. I haven't tanned for about 6 years & rarely spend time outdoors (that may help-since your supposed to avoid any exposure to the sun before & after TX). I was told the redness is a positive sign that the hair follicle was damaged. Of course, if your skin is that sensitive & your in a great deal of pain, I'd probably try another method of hair removal. Well, my TX cost only $375. (half of reg. price) for the entire face (lip, chin, neck, sides & cheeks). The electrologist I went to was very understanding because she had the same problem with hair. The price goes down after 6 TX if needed. For a person paying reg. price per area, the cost goes down by 10% for the 3rd TX, 20% for 4th, & 50% thereafter. Hopefully I won't need too many TX. The results look positve so far. Good luck to all.

Hi all,

I was told I could not pluck or wax after treatment, were you told it was okay? I'd definitely prefer plucking compared to the alternative! It's been about 10 days since my first TX, and I definitely still have alot of hair. But I was pretty tan, so maybe the next treatment will be more effective, as my tan fades. Hopefully!

Cool hairy story

Hey, been reading your stories bout laser hair removal. My comments might not be very useful seeing as there is the minor detail of the vast ocean between you and me, but thought i'd share my tale.

I been having laser treatment for almost about 2 years. The treatment i have is called Aculight laser hair removal. The first course of 6 treatments was useless. real cr*p. That cost me £1,000. The second one which i have just purchased seems to be far better because i protested - quite loudly - that i was not happy that they had fooled me into saying the treatment works for women with PCOS. I saw a consultant from Aculight compnay and she informed the thrapist that there was a new 'head' to use the laser with that targets short hair close to the surface of the skin.
Well, had about 2 treatments and noticed an improvement that shoulda happened a year ago. Hair still grows back but thinner and not as dark and thick. It just needs some gentle 'pulling' with tweezers to ease it out. DON'T PLUCK OR WAX. !!! You'll damage the hair follicle and make it thick again. Just try and keep it to shaving.
Might be good to bear in mind to ask your therapist to consider the length and thickness of your hair according to the laser head bn used ( not to say you haven't already).
If any y'all wana ask me anything - i am young but quite knowledgable of beauty stuff - my hobbie! - and i have had all the hair removal treatments going. Just hit me back on my private e-mail somewhere in my profile.
Happy hair free days to you all!

Sophie xx

Default laser hair removal

I am in the process of laser treatments. I bought a package deal at $1000, with treatments until I'm satisfied. I had my stomach and bikini area done. I have had 7 treatments and need probably one more. It is the best thing! It hurts a lot and is painful for a day or two afterwards but the results are great! Dark hair and fair skin get the best results (for once I had the right combination). My skin is soft and completely hair free. The hardest part was going every five weeks to get the hair in the right stage of its growth cycle. After treatments I had to scrape the hairs off/out.
