Points: 1,853.77 Bank: 100.00 Total Points: 1,953.77 | question about m/c I lost my baby yesterday and im still very upset about it. my question is how long after a miscarriage can you start back taking meds to induce AF. i have never takin Provera so i wanted to start. do you have to wait until your HCG level is down to 0 before you can start. I was 6 weeks along. i started having brown discharge since sunday then yesterday i hadalot of red clotting come out when i went to the bathroom, i went to the ER which i was there 2 days prior and the checked my levels, in 2 days it went from 825 to 732 i have to take another one on monday. I wanted to start on provera so by the time my levels are down to 0 i will start my period. Is this a good ideal? or should i wait unitl my levels go down to 0. Im hoping to O'ed in may or june. |

I could be wrong but i think the docs will want you to wait awhile for your body to settle itself a bit...let the hormones get under control again...and i dont know but could you possibly have af on your own? I know i never did but two weeks after my loss i thought i did...our bodies are so weird. I didnt start anything til my numbers went back to zero but others may have done it differently.
Also i just wanted to say i was on provera for years...and recently switched to prometrium instead...i just found i felt better on it. Just something to think about...maybe compare the two.
Again, hoping you find peace and comfort...take care!

I would wait a little bit, the other thing is that many times you'll find that after a woman has a miscarriage it becomes a lot easier to get pregnant again.

You will shed your lining with the m/c, meaning that you won't have a lining to shed after the m/c is over. If you don't get AF 30 days after your last day of this bleeding, then you can take Provera to induce AF (after you take a HPT to make sure you're not pg). How do you get Provera w/o a presciption if the dr won't give it to you?

I had my first loss on April 6, 2004, today is the one yr anniversary of my D&C. I started af on my own about a week after my levels returned to zero. I got pg again that cycle, but had another loss. Once my levels were back to 0 that time, which it didn't take too long, my af didn't come, so on cd35 I took Provera again. I went on to have a dud cycle, then provera again on cd35, and I got pg again that cycle with the help of letrazole.
I guess my point is, wait for your levels to return to normal, have a cycle on your own, if you can at all, if not, then take the provera. that's what I would do, and did do. |

I had my D&C on August 26 and O'd on my own, possibly for the first time in my life, exactly 3 weeks later (I believe that date was September 17th). Started AF 12 days after that, and then started taking Met again. When I calculate where my levels were, I realize my body must have O'd right after my levels dropped to zero. We couldn't TTC for 3 months because I had gotten an MMR immunization (during my PG we discovered I was no longer immune to rubella). During that waiting period, we discovered that Metformin makes my cycles "regular" and ovulatory, so at least we learned something while we had to wait.
