Red face question about met dosage amount

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and have been taking metformin for 3 months now. I am taking 1000mg a day. I've noticed a lot of people take 1500 and I was wondering if 1500 is the norm. Has anyone taken 1000mg and had success?

I have had the same question. I've been on Fortamet Extended Release 1000 since early March with no luck (it hasn't even regulated by cycles). I am starting clomid at the end of the month and wonder if I should also move to 1500 with the Fortamet. Has anyone had the 1000 do the trick?

Ditto, same question here also. I have been on 1000 mg for about 2 weeks now, and am pretty much miserable. Almost constant nausea, which intensifies if i get the least bit hungry. Haven't seen any results at all yet, and it seems that most cysters are on at least 1500 mg, but I can't imagine more of this...

My RE mentioned about a PCO patient coming to/transferring to his office and complaining that she wasnt seeing results on Met. He told me it was because her dose was too low. He said 1500 is important to achieve good results. But Im sure some will see results on less.

I am not IR, but I was on 2000mg. for Metformin for a little over 2 years and it never regulated my cycles or helped me to ovulate and I had no s/e at all on it.
Just 3 weeks ago I started Met XR 500mg. and it made me so nauseated that I could hardly function, so they switched me to the regular Met 500mg. and I stayed on it for a week, now just moved up to 1000mg. Monday and still feeling nauseous with not much of an appetite, but i do seem to feel better when i eat! I will be moving up to 1500mg. next week. Hoping since i'm feeling a few s/e that maybe it'll work this time. My RE wants me own it since i'm ttc'ing, but if i was not ttc'ing i personally would not be taking it, ugh! Not sure why it's bothering me now and didn't before. I think 1500mg. is good, but i would be sure and check with you doctor if you have questions about it!

Hi Ladies--

Thank you for all of the dosage information. I am starting a new blog that some of you might be interested in joining. It's a prayer group for infertiles and their family and friends. I am a shy person, so this feels a little forward for me. But please check it out if you have a second and feel free to share it with friends.
