I was wondering if anyone had a clue about this. I have been going through my PCOS paperwork for an unconnected reason, but it got me to asking questions I didn't even think to ask before.

The foremost of these questions has to do with a number. On all of my lab orders, it says:

"Diagnosis: POLYCYSTIC OVARIES (256.4)"

Does anyone know what that number means?

All these numbers have my head swimming.

there's no way that's just an insurance code is it?? I just know we had to list DX with the dx number when I was working in medical accounting....
