Hi cysters,
I was wondering of provera causes you to get AF which means that you ovulate.right.then can you get preggo after taking it?? and If not then why??

Provera doesn't stimulate ovulation. It just forces your body to shed the uterine lining which cause a bleed, not a true "period". You get a true period after you ovulate and Provera doesn't stimulate ovulation.

**Round 2: Clomid 100mg , O'd
**Round 3: Clomid 100mg, O'D and BFP!
**BFP on 6/23/07!! EDD 2/27/08**
**8/13/07 HB at doctor's office
**8/28/07 HB on home Doppler approximately 155 bpm!
**10/19/07 Ultrasound looked good, quad tests came back negative! (Baby's gender is a surprise!)

It's a progesterone pill. It loads you up with progesterone so your lining thickens, and then you get a progesterone withdrawl period. No ovulation occurs.
OOKK so all this time I've had the wrong understanding. So you dont need to ovulate to get a period?? well @ least when it comes to provera usage?

I thought that once to egg is released if you dont get preg. then you get a period???

In a person who gets their period on their own...You get a period, then 14(ish) days later you ovulate, which releases an egg and then 14 (ish) days later you get your period.
I've heard that some people can naturally get their period without ovulating, but typically you need to ovulate to get a natural period.
But, when you use drugs like provera (or even BCPs) you aren't ovulating, the drugs are just bringing on the flow part of your cycle. So while I'll never say never, you won't get pregnant from using provera to bring on your period because it isn't a 'real' period.
