Cool Question about Seasonique

My question is has anyone taken Seasonique?

as im considering switching my birth control to that. i go for my annual check-up. and am considering talkin to the dr about the risks and benefits of taking Seasonique. as i have done research online and would love to have only 4 periods a year. and heard its normal to not have a period every month.

my dh and i do not plan on having anymore kids. and i dont want to get my tubes tied... nor does he want to get sniped...

any insight or info that you ladies can share would be great. ill still do reasearch on pill, then take all the facts and ask my dr next tuesday.

have a great day

I'm on Seasonale, which is pretty much the same thing but Seasonique has a small amount of hormone during your "off" week (versus the usual placebo). I love the Seasonale. I've been on it for years and I LOVE not having periods every month.

Some people have trouble with break thru bleeding between periods, especually if your body is used to having a period every month. I didn't have that problem, but one of my best friends stopped taking it for that reason.

Interesting, I didn't know about the small amount of hormone during the off-week--I never take my placebo pills because it seems silly, but I guess I should start.

I've taken it for maybe two years now? Before that I took Seasonique and skipped my period probably 2 out of 3 months, never had a problem. It can cause some breakthrough bleeding, but it never did in my case.

And it's completely correct that you don't need a period every month--in fact it's really only with the advent of modern contraception that that has happened, for most of human history due to pregnancy and nursing, women only occasionally got periods.

I love Seasonique. No side effects, and seems to work.

If you have trouble getting Seasonique, Seasonale is the same thing minus the hormones during your off week AND Seasonale comes in generic (Jolessa). GL!
