Kat, before we all start groups for the buddy threads, do you know if they have email alerts/subscription features? I don't use that, but I know a lot of people do.
(I wouldn't have asked, but you mentioned it above... please don't hurt me.)

I think some mods are being developed that add that capability. To my surprise, it wasn't included in the core product. When the core software was being developed, board owners whined every day to the developers to make subscriptions a default item. It fell on deaf ears, apparently...
ETA
I'm moving your post to a thread of it's own. I couldn't find it on the other thread that was discussing the 'ignore' features.

That's really strange that it wouldn't be a core item. Hopefully someone creates that mod. I'm sure groups will be more popular here if they have the 'subscribe' feature.

It's just plain dumb. Literally for MONTHS board owners were telling the developers that this would be a problem. I told them a billion times that this would be a major sticking point here, and asked for the ability to have 'group blogs' if they weren't going to add subscriptions to "Social Groups"...
Again, it all fell on deaf ears...
Men.

I started one for the November '04 mommies and found that invites have to be done one at a time too (unless I missed something). I tried comma separators, but that didn't work. What a pain that's going to be for the larger buddy groups. It sounds like a few things weren't thought through with this particular item (again unless I missed something).

Rather than doing invites, just post a link on the buddy thread to the new group reminding people to sign up. Don't make the group 'invited only'.
I haven't really had a chance to look at any of the options, so I can't be of much help.

What I did for a closed group was pick "MODERATED" and put a link in a thread so people could see the group had been started. They ask to be added and I get a list each day of people who want to be added to that group. I just click the box next to their name and click to add them. It's much more simple if you want to add a ton of people to a closed or moderated group
I'm not sure, but I do know I only chose "Moderated" and it's letting me pick who gets to join. I haven't needed to moderate any posts, so I haven't checked to see what I would be allowed to do.
