Points: 736.13 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 736.13 | Question about synthroid Hi, guys. I was diagnosed hypo about a week and a half ago. My doctor presribed synthroid (50mcg).
I know I'm supposed to be taking it in the morning on an empty stomach, but I've also just started on spironolactone too. Is it okay to take both pills together in the morning? It's easier for me to remember this way.
And also, I know you're supposed to eat a half hour to an hour after taking the synthroid, but a lot of times I don't have time to eat in the morning. Is it okay if I eat 3-4 hours later instead of an hour?
I already know that it's very important to eat breakfast, so I'm requesting that you please don't point out that I should be eating in the morning. I know that I should. |

That I know of, it doesn't matter how late you eat, just as long as you don't eat too soon.

A good website to see what meds you can take together is http://www.healthline.com/drug_direc...nes%20together or walgreen website or any Pharmacey website like CVS and Riteaid or probably even Eckerds

I take so many prescription pills (none that are iron, though), and some have to be taken first thing, others with my morning meal, and others in the evening. There's just no way for me to space them out like that.
I'm not worried though. I know the synthroid is working as it should despite taking the other pills because my TSH has gone from above 7 down to the normal range of 3. |

Points: 742.30 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 742.30 | I take 112 mcg in the morning alone, I was just always told to avoid taking Iron and Calcium with Synthroid. For me taking it at the same time every day really makes a difference. I also wait about an hour before I eat anything.
Although I did read about one study where they administered synthroid to nursing home patients along with their meals and it didn't have an affect the absorbtion. Who knows! I'm sticking with the empty stomach philosophy! |

I don't know about it reacting to Spiro, but I do know you aren't supposed to take it with any supplements.
I'm struggling with this right now because I work 3rd shift and I take it when I get home and then I go right to bed. I also take Melatonin to help me sleep and I know I shouldn't because it is a supplement. I tried not taking it and I would only get 4-5 hours of sleep and this is just not enough. When I take the Melatonin I get around 7 hours which makes all the difference in the world.
I'm considering taking mine when I first wake up in the afternoon because this is my morning and also I won't have to worry about it interacting with my melatonin.
