Question Question about taking vitex

Hi Cysters,

I am thinking of trying Vitex and was wondering how much you should take, whether you should take it every day of your cycle etc....

Thanks,

Kia

Hello there, I took 2 vitex pills a day (one in the morning, one at night) during the whole month except when AF was here.

I can't remember what the quantity in each pill was.

By the way after starting vitex in february I was finally regular at 31 days and am currently 12 weeks preg.

Good luck to you.

Default help!

Hi! My endocrinologist told me today to stop taking the vitex pills because i told him i had huge amounts of discharge--white mucousy stuff--sorry--every day! He told me it was from the herb causing too much progesterone! I am desperately ttc and am a thin cyster on 1500mg of glucophage for 3 weeks! What does anyone think? shoud i stay on the vitex? thanks

I know there are some out there but I have personally never met a dr who is supportive of alternative medicine. I think what he is saying sounds like ignorance. I have heard only good things about vitex helping women with PCOS and other fertility problems, myself included. Perhaps there is a difference in thin cysters but if your cycles are not regular or are regular but annovulatory then you are a candidate for vitex. If you are taking less then 1500mg of vitex per day then that is what I have read is considered reasonable dosage. The other thing is...is it possible that what seems like huge amounts of mucus to you is just what most other women consider normal amounts? The reason I ask is that most of us cysters as part of our hormone problem also have very little CM. If I was you (which I am not) I would persevere with the vitex. Take your temps and watch your body for other signs of improvement and then judge for yourself whether it is working for you. One of the best things for me about turning to alternative medicines was taking responsibility for my own health, not allowing drs to tell me how I feel. I would just as soon make my own educated guesses about my health then fumble along with theirs. (don't get me wrong drs have their place, just hopefully not too often in my life!)

Sheri: In regards to thin cysters responding differently to vitex. I have to disagree. I'm 5'6 and weigh about 127lbs. Vitex made AF regular and assisted in me getting pregnant.

Default thank you!!

THank you both so much for taking the time to respond!! I really feel like people listen to me here!! I am taking 400mg of "Chasteberry" tablets 2x a day! Does that sound right? I think you both are right and I am going to continue doing this ! It certainly can't hurt! (i hope), and isn't it progesterone that makes you get your period anyways? Have you guys taken vitex with glucophage and seen results? Also, how long did it take? i know i am being impatient, but i have felt nothing after 3 weeks!! any hope for me? good luck and much thanks!
