Hi me2,
Maybe I can shed a little light. I am T2 diabetic, but was IR for many years and didn't know it. Also currently PCOS.
The major symptoms that I noticed daily (in addition to the symptoms already exhibited by my PCOS/IR) were:
1. excessive thirst
2. excessive urination.
3. rough dry skin in several areas of my body.
These symptoms along with a fasting glucose of 272 indicated T2 diabetes for me.
As my doc explained it to me, IR is a pre-diabetic condition characterized by slow, steady weight gain, difficulty with losing the weight, and also a fasting glucose of 100 - 130 may be indicative of IR.
Will IR automatically become Diabetes? Most statistics indicate that if IR is left un treated (either with diet, meds or both) it, more then likely, will develope into diabetes, which happened to me.
If u are currently IR the very best thing u can do is to get medical attention, find a good low carb diet, loose weight (if needed), and exercise. All this may help postpone or even prevent T2 diabetes from developing.
Hope this helped...I am sure others might be able to add more info to this, and remember everyone is different in signs and symptoms.
Pam
