hi ebayers!!! me and my sister want to open an ebay shop but really dont know where to start. We've looked into wholesalers etc. but jus dont know where to start!! Also how successful are you shops?? I'd love to leave work to do this, so do you think it would be worth it?? thanks in advance!!! xx

I dont have a shop on ebay but I list items every week. I think it depends on what your market is and the demand for the products you are selling. I tried several things on ebay before I settled on selling discontinued bath beauty items as my market. I went through a lot, I did a lot of research, made some bad decisions, but i feel like now this is working for me. To start, I would just sell things from around the house, clothes from my personal collection, I began looking up wholesalers, bought of few lots of items from liquidation.com and some lip glosses from wholesaleramp.com. In the end, I started shopping huge discount sales in stores to get the products I need. This is just a part time thing for me, a way to earn money to pay off my credit cards and now provide extra gas money since gas is so so so high now. I probably spend about 30 hours a week on ebay or doing things related to ebay whether its research, packing boxes or shopping. I love the thrill of the auction and I have a lot of fun doing what I do on ebay.

Don't forget, you can add your ebay ID to your user profile here at SC, and an ebay icon will show up under your avatar (see under mine? that's not my store...it's just an example)

I have an Ebay store and a shop on Etsy. What are you planning on selling? I sell jewelry on Etsy, but it seems to get lost in the gobs of people on there now. It's best to network through a blog or places like here and there's a community for ebay sellers on Flickr. I do really well on Ebay though. I have about 80% return customers and I've only opened the store a year ago. Good luck!
