Question Question for Christian cysters who are TTC..

My dh and I have been married for 5 years now. The first 3 were very rocky. I was ttc even though things weren't going well. I know, stupid idea. Anyway, we've since gotten our problems sorted out and things are going great. He knew that I wanted to have a baby and I had gotten pg back in the summer of 2003. It turned out to be a chemical pg only.
Last Valentine's Day, he gave me a card and inside he had written "Let's have a baby." Meaning that he was secure enough within our relationship to move on to ttc.
Last June was a ttc cycle. But we were on vacation in FL and ummm, it's hard to time sex when you have your in-laws and 3 kids around. (I have 2 kids prior to him and he has one prior to me.) So that cycle was a waste. We've done nothing since then.

Now here's my question......We are both Christians, but I am wrestling with the thought that if God wanted me and dh to have kids, then He would've made me able to conceive AND yeah, I've got this PCOS/Insulin Resistance problem and it's gonna take a little bit of work/meds to get me pg. I guess it sounds crazy, but I just don't know what to think anymore.

Any advice, opinions, comments???? Thanks in advance.

I actually like your question that if God wanted me and dh to have kids, then He would've made me able to conceive. Apparently you are able to conceive. You have two children, right? Now the question is what do you do, testing, procedures, etc., etc., etc. Let me give you some Christian book resourses about infertility - which in your case would be considered secondary infertility.

You know whats funny? I have just spent the last 10 minutes searching my bookcases for my books and I cannot find a single one. That's the enemy for ya.

I am going to have to look. This is going to drive me nuts.

Be back soon with info.

Okay, I can't find the books so I went to Christian books.com and these are two of the books that helped me the most.

When Empty Arms Become a Heavy Burden: Encouragement for Couples Facing Infertility
By: Sandra Glahn, William Cutrer, M.D.

When the Cradle is Empty
By: John & Sylvia Van Regenmorter

The first book really helped me be able to express why it is that I feel that it is okay for me to pursue medical treatment to achieve a pregnancy.

Spend a lot of time in prayer. Thank God that your husband put your marriage a priority before making this decision! Hang in there!

thank you for the book suggestions. I will look into them soon.

My dh seemed to not like the idea of using meds to get me pg. Like it was forcing God's hand or something. He takes Axert for his migraines. I don't see what the difference is. He wears contacts for his very bad eyesight. He was taking Protonix for heartburn. If you need medical help, you need medical help. Period. I don't know, he's weird. He's gotten very legalistic or something lately. I can't explain it, he's just been acting different lately.

That is why I like the "Heavy Burdens" book because it says the same thing. If you had cancer, wouldn't you do chemo? If you need help balancing your hormones and to produce ovulation, wouldn't you take clomid or metformin?

Hi again.....Well, we discussed it more tonight and he said that he doesn't have so much a problem with the meds as the problem that we have differing opinions on discipline. He was raised with a mom and dad. His dad was very strict and sometimes abusive. His parents are now Christians. I grew up with basically just my mom, since my parents divorced when I was 5. He thinks I'm too lenient with my girls and I think he's too harsh sometimes. So we have that to deal with, unfortunately.

I read your profile and see you are into Harley Davidson. My husband bought a Buell last year. It's been a lot of fun. Do you drive one or passenger one? Me, I passenger it. lol My feet don't even touch the ground.

Right on! I am going to take a motorcycle class soon. I have not ridden a bike by myself since I was 15 or 16. I enjoy riding with my husband. He is actually a better riding a motorcycle than driving the car !

I am going to send you an PM about the class I took for parenting.

On the TTC as a Christian - my DH and I did Natural Family Planning, the sympto thermal method before we decided TTC and then when we decided to TTC we did sympto thermal in addition to having one of the Fertility Monitors (clear blue easy). It worked for us and we felt no guilt.

forgive me, i am very new to this as i just converted, i do not know where this is in the bible. i belive in the old testoment, but i am not sure what of the old testoment still applies. it said our bodys are temples, and we need to take care of it. i will have to look it up. taking meds is not only to help you conceve, but also to help your body. it is not good for your body to be out of alingment.
