Hey Christy.
First of all, I want to let you know that I appreciate all you do for this message board!!!!
Now, I've been on Met for 5 months now. AF finally showed up this past Sunday after a 100 day cycle. I have always taken my BBT and according to that, my CM, other symptoms, and my O predictor, I O'd 15 days prior starting my period. Yeay! I think that's something to be happy about. I actually attended a PCOS seminar last night and found it quite interesting.
Before ever taking MET, my OBGYN put me on Clomid for 4 months... which turned out to be a waste of time. What are your thoughts on my calling my RE to get some Clomid for this cycle? I am 32 years old and have been TTC for 1 year. I am aware that I could O this cycle without the Clomid but won't it most likely occur really late in my cycle? I don't want to wait months to O again plus, I've heard that when O occurs that late, the egg is of poor quality. What I'm asking is, could Clomid 'hurt' my chances of conceiving if I combine it with the Met? My understading is that it won't hurt anything but there's a chance it could HELP.
Thanks very much!
DanaLee

A lot of women find clom + met works better than just one or the other, but Met has just started getting Af rolling for you, so it may work on it's own.
Had I known when I was ttc what I know now about Met, I would been content to give Met the time to work and just try that on it's own. Your periods have just started coming, and I bet with more time, Met could be really helpful in resuming O. I suggest giving it the chance to work on it's own, but I'm hesitant to pop more than one thing at once...because then you don't know what is helping what symptom. I am grateful beyond words for my precious DS, I shudder to think what I put myself through on clomid...it was an awful experience for me.
It's your call, sweetie, but that's just my experience. I suggest giving it some more time to see if Met can work on it's own..it looks like it's already starting to help.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Dana. If you have any other questions, I hope you won't hesitate to post.

Dana.. I hate to jump in here but wanted to share something... I have only been on Gluc XR for 2 weeks still in the process of upping to the 1500mg but I am also on Clomid and it has been a terrible time for me I can't eat, I feel like I am in a constant fog, hot flashes, mood swings, you name it... If it wasn't so long that we were TTC I would have never done this to myself.. I think well for me anyway they do not react well together.... so if Met has gotten you this far might be your best bet (alone) ... just sharing.. best of luck... Nanci

Jump in anytime, Nanci! I am glad you shared your Clomid experience. I have SO been where you are. I'm a little frustrated at the number of Dr's who fail to explain how potent a drug this is...i didn't have a clue going into it. My Dr told me nothing about it, and I thought it would be as harmless as taking a tylenol, but it was ~crazy~. I remember sitting on our bed across from Dh and sobbing until I couldn't cry anymore. I was a hormonal, strung out mess on the stuff. I whole-heartedly want women to have the freedom to choose this as her course of action, but I would treat it as a last resort, given what I know now.
Take care of yourself today Nanci, and I hope the rest of your dose goes better. Post if you need anything.
