Question Question for cysters taking Yasmin

Hi cysters

I was on Ovcon35, but since I bled for 2 months straight, my GYN switched me to Yasmin. I've taken it before with no problems.

This time I've been on it for a week, and I'm still bleeding. I was wondering, when did your bleeding stop when you started Yasmin?

Thank you very much
Julie

Default Yasmin

I have been on Yasmin for a year now. I'm very pleased! I have bled for at least 3 weeks of every month for the past 10+ years. Makes my husband real thrilled with me, as you can imagine. Anyway, I was diagnosed last April, put on 1500 mgs. of Met and Yasmin. The first few months I didn't see a tremendous difference. Actually the first month I had pretty severe cramping. But not since, so not sure how that is related. Anyway, the bleeding has FINALLY slowed enough now so that I bleed only during the week of my period, plus maybe 3 days before my period. To some people that is a lot, but I'm quite pleased! I do notice more "sensitivity" in my ovaries - I believe it is known as 'mittleschmirtz" - a nonspecific ache in the ovaries that has no serious side affect or cause. It comes and goes throughout the month. I am really happy I continued on Yasmin! - Hope this helps! Amy

Yasmin didn't help stop my bleeding--after more than a month, I finally had to have a D&C. But Yasmin has kept AF more or less regular since then.

Good luck to you--hope the bleeding stops SOON.

Thank you both for your replies. I have been wondering about the possiblity of a D&C. I go back to the doctor in August, so I guess we'll see what she says.

Thank you again
Julie

Default Bleeding on Yasmin

I have JUST started to see a nice change in the amount of spotting I've had. I've been on Met (1500mgs) and Yasmin for about a year now. I had the stomach upset you all talk about - Was worse when I ate sugar or large amounts of carbs. But the bleeding seems to have 'slowed down.' I used to bleed almost 3 weeks out of the month - now I bleed a few days before the official start of my period. I can handle that - I'm hoping to increase the metformin and see if that helps with the bleeding. Hope this helps! Amy

I was on Yasmin as well, and I do have to say that it helped quiet a bit. Right before I went on it, I had an u/s done, and there were lots of cysts and fibroids.

I had another u/s after I had been on it a while, and they had gone away.

I have been off of it for a while, got p/g with twins (we weren't TTC, but were still happy about it). I am going through my miscarriage right now.

I am going back on the yasmin next week.

Sorry, forgot to address the OP, when I first went on it, I had been bleeding beforehand anyway, I bled up until about 2 weeks after I got on it.

For me, AF stopped a few days after I started taking Yasmin, but this was after a few weeks of taking Provera (which didn't work!)
