After reading many posts on the Diva Cup, I went ahead and ordered one. I thought I'd "practice" before AF showed up. However, i thought that you were supposed to not be able to feel it. I'm already a little sore (sorry, TMI) from trying to get it in and every time I do, I can feel it and it's not all that comfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips?
Thanks,

First, it helps to wet it with water before trying to insert it and squat rather than the "one foot on the toilet"position for tampons. Also, you may want to trim the little tab thingy at the bottom as it is a bit long and can feel weird. I usually use my thumb to get it into the proper position as it seems to go at the right angle or something lol. Just make sure you get it up high enough too- don't worry, you can't get it in too far and lose it- that's not physically possible. Don't worry, you will get the hang of it and it will be so worth it! Perhaps if you need to, try a little lube on it while you aren't on AF so that it slides in easier and make sure you are relaxed. Good luck!
Well, I got the darn thing to go in so I couldn't feel it, then I couldn't get it out! It took me 20 minutes of trying! How many cycles did I take before you got used to it???
I really want to get the hang of it, it's just so frustrating

I never used a Diva cup, but since it works like a diaphragm, I think I can give some tips. First, whenever you put it in or take it out, bear down. When taking it out, bearing down really helps me reach my diaphragm, so I assume it would help with a diva cup. It took me TOO long to figure this out on my own Bearing down also helps when putting it in, since that positions the cervix closer to your fingers. I find the sitting on the toilet is the best position for insertion or removal.
HTH.

Yes bearing down does help in removing the Diva Cup as well, as it brings it lower so you can grab it easier. Don't worry- you will get the hang of it very quickly and then you won't ever want to go back to anything else!
Thanks to all who responded. I tried it again today and was able to get it in and out with no problems. I am VERY glad I tried this before AF came Now on to trying to figure out if it opened correctly.....

Okay, ladies, I have finally gotten the hang of the Diva Cup and I'm loving it so far!!! My next question is ..... (warning TMI)
Can you use it everyday for "discharge issues"? For the first time in quite awhile I'm anxiously awaiting AF so I can try it with the Diva Cup, but until then I would really like to try it for this too. What do ya'll think?

first, to make sure it "opens correctly," grab the base and twist it around until it is opened up and no longer in half. It usually just takes 1 full turn to open, but you can twist it once or twice to make sure it is in ok. For some reason, with my current AF, it keeps staying in half, and not opening. I have not had this problem in the 4 or so cycles that I have used it so far.
About the second, yeah, I bet you could use it for normal discharge, if it were an especially heavy time of discharge, but i wouldnt want to wear it all the time or anything

I just wanted to say a big "THANK YOU" and many ((((hugs)))) to everyone and anyone who recommended the Diva Cup! I finally got the hang of it just before AF and I will never go back.
So..... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!

You can go to www.divacup.com and purchase them online and the website also gives a store locator so you can see if there is a store near you that sells them. If you get one you will never regret it- they are worth every penny and then some!
I just went to the website that Vanessa posted and bought it online. I received it in about a week. Believe me, ALL my female family members and friends will be hearing about the Diva Cup! And when AF comes to visit my daughter in a few years....no pads or tampons for her to mess around with!
I love this thing!

Has anyone tried both Instead and the Diva cup? I'm curious which one I should try.
