Hi!
I finally found a doctor to prescribe Met to me after many years. I have been on it for 11 days. I started Met XR at 500 mgs for 10 days, had loose BMs the first and second days ( no real big deal), then no side effects at all. Last night I increased the dosage to 1000 mgs and also took 100 mg Clomid. I had macaroni for dinner and just got bad diarrhea, and (sorry if TMI) the color of it was very dark brown. Is this normal? How long will it take before this goes away? Will it get worse again when I increase in 10 days to 1500 mg?
I think I can handle the diarrhea because I have IBS to begin with, so I am somewhat used to it, but this is a little much to be going through, on top of Clomid, which is hard enough.
Overall, I feel much better on the Met. It is helping me to control cravings.
One more question: I am extremely bloated/sore inside my belly on Met (before taking Clomid), to the point where I look pregnant! I feel full/gassy but I am not passing any gas. Will this go away eventually or should I go invest in a whole bunch of drawsting pants? LOL
TIA,
Barbara

Hello Barbara
So sorry to hear of your diarrehea. You have to remember that Met is changing your entire hormonal biochemical make-up. With this being true, doctors highly reccomend you follow a strict low carb diet in the intial phase of Met (especially when you increase your does).
Carbs & Met dont mix at first -- but I been told it does get better over time. Make sure you take your Met with a high protein, low carb meal. Lots of water & no sugary sodas or juices.
I slowly increased my dose on MET XR over the course of 3 weeks and it is completely normal to feel and look bloated in the intial phase.
Good luck -- I will continue to check on you

I am feeling much better on the 1000 mg dose of Met. For the most part, I eat healthy, but the other day I had a little too much pasta compared to the amount of meat that I ate, and that sent me over the edge.
All day yesterday, I ate healthy and had no problems, I was just really tired, but I am also taking Clomid too, so it could have been that.
I am soooooo much less bloated. I started increasing my water intake and it has helped tremendously. The other added bonus is that I think I lost 2-3 pounds after 12 days on Met!!!!!
Call me corny, but I think this medicine is going to really change my life! It is a really hard thing to start, but I am already starting to see the benefits. Hopefully, I can continue this positive thinking.
Barbara
