Question Question....please give me your opinions

Hiya,

I've got a question....On Monday, I had these kinda weird pains like just above my hips at the back - where I assumed your kidneys are??

It was like this incredible burning kinda take ya breath away feeling, and it was just as I was going to hop in the shower. I kinda thought I'd just try and breath through it, to see if it would ease, and kinda took deep breaths and stood in the shower half bent over with the hot water on my back...thought it would like make it better.

It kinda lasted about 10mins quite severe....and when I got out of the shower, it was kinda a dull ache....and was gone in like half an hour.

Has anyone had this before??? Would anyone know what it might be?? I haven't had pain like this before, and it hasn't bothered me since.

I'm not due for my period...and it hasn't come early/late and I'm on the pill.

Without giving too much information...me and my partner had just made love before I had the shower

Its just kinda freaky, I've never had any pain there before.

Any thoughts, suggestions would be much appreciated.

Liz

Sorry you arent feeling well. The two thoughts i had (but of course im no doc) was it could either be a kidney stone attack or a Urinary Tract infection UTI.

If its a kidney stone that can be really really painful apparently as bad as labour and i can vouch that is pretty horrific. If its a UTI it could have been aggravated by sex hmnn not sure.

Anyway drink loads of water for either! if its not either then the water will do you good anyways.

Id get myself of to a doc if i were you as if you have an infection or a kidney stone they will need to give you antibiotics.

Let us know how you go

Em

Hey Em....Good suggestions, but I've kinda thought about that.

I don't have the classic "burning" that goes with a UTI.

Ummm about the kidney stones...about 2 years ago, before I had surgery for Endo, I ended up in the emergency dept...they did a cat scan, and x-rays coz they thought I had kidney stones then....but came back perfectly clear.

It hasn't hurt at all since....if it happens again, I'll go to the docs and see what he thinks.

Thanks for ya help though.

Liz-

Sorry to snoop on this board, but I read your post because the title caught my eye....I am not from Australia.

I have had the exact same thing you described since I was a teenager. I have posted the question twice on this board and never found anyone that had any clue as to what I was talking about.

Anyway, mine starts out a little slow and then escalates in to an excrutating burning pain on both sides of my back above my hips. Then it slowly decrease and goes away....sort of like a labor contraction.

I have asked several doctors, and they have blown me off. I get them every few months or so and have had them since I was a young teenager.

I have thought that it could be muscle contractions because I am large breasted? I am not that much overweight(20 lbs) and was not overweight as a teen.

I am so excited to find this post...write back and let me know if you are larger breasted. If not, maybe we can find something else it common.

Hi,

I had pains like that when I had gallstones! It took me along time to get diagnosed as I didn't have all the classical symptoms, but I definitely had the same pain you are referring too. Might be worth getting a check up

Kind regards,

Kellie.

Hey Kellie and Lindy,

Thanks for your replies

Kellie, I hadn't thought about gallstones, but I have had a while ago a cat scan, and x rays for kidney stones...mind you, was a couple years ago, maybe its changed??

Anyways, maybe I should pluck up the courage to go to the doctors....see if they have any idea.

Thanks for your support

Liz
