Default Question...Please help!!!

Hi!

I have a question. I know I have PCOS (overweight, sonoram showed cysts, skin tags, irregular periods, clomid to conceive, etc.) but I have never had any blood work done. I just finished nursing so my OB/Gyn told me to call when I finished nursing so we could do tests and start metformin. He is doing a fasting glucose and a serum insulin in the morning to see how insulin resistant I am.

Has anyone ever had normal lab work despite having PCOS? I'm worried he will not want to start the meds if these tests come back in the normal range.

Any ideas?? Thanks!

You can have somewhat normal labs, the definitive one would be an fsh:lh ratio. Those should be 1:1, but in women with pcos, its anything but, often 1:4 or more. There's a link in the newbie section that's sticky at the top of the page, with a link to some websites with comprehensive labs and guidelines for reference values.

Good luck!

all my blood work comes back normal except for my testosterone and blood sugar. I am on metformin, and I have every known symptom there is.
