Question Question regarding Metformin

In March 2004 I was put on Met and Clomid to conceive my 3rd child. When I started the Met I went straight to taking 1500mg per day. I had NO side effects at all from it, except for my all day hunger was gone and I lost 11 pounds within a month. I am not totally sure WHY my dr gave me the Met to go with the clomid, although I had put on alot of weight and I told him it was all around my belly. He did no blood work or anything just gave me the meds. My question is.....since my body responded that way to the Met, is it possible that I DO have possible Insulin Resistance related to PCOS?? I am making a dr's appt to talk to my family dr about PCOS and to try and get tested for it, but was just curious as to what you think about my body and the way it responded to the Met. Any responses are welcome.

Its possible, but hard to tell without the proper tests. I do know that even for women without pcos met and met with clomid have become the front line response for infertility. met greatly increases the chances of getting pregnant, even if you don't have pcos. I would really want to have some tests to know what I was dealing with though, instead of fighting blind.

I have a dr's appt today with my family dr in order to get the ball rolling on some kind of testing. I have printed out a lot of things from this website that I plan on taking with me, just in case my dr doesn't really know about it.
