Default question for those with Paragard

I've had it for a few months now and my first AF after I got it was literally the heaviest I think I've ever had in my life. But ever since I've had nothing but spotting, and it was spotting that in theory should have been an AF...but it was so darn faint and hardly a bother at all that I don't know if it was AF or just spotting? Has this happened with anyone else? I guess I'm confused because when I had it put in the doc said that My periods won't entirely disappear but will become lighter, and that there can be spotting between periods...so I'm not sure which one it was lol, actually it's happened twice so I'm super confused. I probably sound like a total dope but I was just wondering if anyone else went through this with their IUD

My doc said the complete opposite. She said my periods would most likely be heavier on ParaGard. Mirena is supposed to give lighter periods and spotting in between at first. But ParaGard is pretty much known to give heavy periods. In fact my periods were so heavy I didn't even start off with my normal spotting...just started gushing when AF came.

My main concern for you would be possible pregnancy. Are you and your SO using anything besides the IUD? Have you tested? I know when I had ParaGard I was never truly confident with it. We didn't use condoms after the first month with it, and lo and behold I ended up getting PG again while I had the ParaGard. I also had the spotting going on (when it comes when AF is due and then stops), and it turned out that I was indeed PG.

Honestly, I thought about giving the IUD another whirl, but knowing what happened last time and how much it HURT going in, only for me to get PG again not 3 months later...well, I figured it was easier for DH to get snipped lol.
