I spoke with an attorney who facilitates DSS adoptions and she said the adoption/home study is free of charge and we could do it on our own or we could pay her legal fees to have her (or another attorney) guide us.
Just wondering the pros of hiring the attorney and how costly it became.
Thanks!

We are only wanting to adopt children that have already had parental rights taken away. Once we are placed with a child then we will have to wait our six months then we will go for finalization and that is when we will need an attorney and we pay very minimal fees. Not sure if that helped you out or not.

Best wishes to you!

The thing is you aren't very likely to get a newborn/infant through the state - at least not here!
We also looked at doing foster care but my husband has decided against it. He doesn't think he can handle getting attached and then having to let go knowing the child/teen may go back to a very horrible situation all over again!
