I hope I don't offend anyone by this post - just curious as to what you make out of it - especially fostering parents.

I was contacted today to make yet another appt. for ds. I don't mind at all taking him to 2-3 appt's a week if that's what it takes.

About a year ago DH & I discussed fostering children. At the time I was working and we didn't know if we could get by on one income. We also didn't know if I/we could invest the time that a foster child would take - I've heard they usually have a lot of appts. between docs/counselors/social workers etc. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

So today as I was making yet another appt for a hospital an hour away (cause they can't possibly give a shot 1 day early when I'm already there for ds's eye appt). It occurs to me - was my ds early to show me I *can* handle it?

I believe everything happens for a reason. Is someone trying to tell me something?

I am a foster/adopt mother in Ohio. My Dh and I just recertified for 2 more years.

We where licensed on 2/10/2003 and had our first (and only) placement on 2/26/2003. We had a sibling group of 4 places with is ages 2, 3, 5 and 9. The 9 yo eventually went into kinship care w/a family friend. We are now in the process of adopting the younger 3 now ages 4, 5 and 7. There were a lot of appointments in the beginning. I could not have had a full time job. However our appointments did slow down after the first few weeks. Obviously every child is different. Feel free to pm or email me at Micmoore5@hotmail.com.
