Hi
I really think you need to try and get to the point where you are having regular periods of some discription even if it is a few times a year to begin with.
Without even thinking of having a child, having regular periods are important to help clear your uterine lining, this maybe why you had so much pain and cramping, you may have some scar tissue with not having periods for so long.
There are many answers to helping you start to have periods again, amongst one is Metformin it has had very good results in helping people with PCOS to regulate thier periods
You could probably do with some investigations too, especially if you are thinking of trying to concieve, maybe a laporoscopy could be considered to have a good look inside you or a HSG which is like a dye scan that can check your tubes are clear, although this will all be dealt with in time.
As for trying for a baby, well you need to be ovulating and it sounds if you are not having any periods at the moment then you probably are not ovulating either. Ovulation occurs normally on cycle day 14 (in regualr women) and cycle day 1 is the 1st day of your period.
Some of us on the boards have periods sometimes but don't always ovulate, that is when drugs like clomid etc...are used.
I really think you need to go to a good gyne dr or endo and explain that what you had last time didn't agree with you and that you want to be managed so that you can develop some regualtion in your periods.
Are thinkning of ttc soon? Even if you arn't, it is important that you get help for your PCOS, it isn't just going to effect your ttc, there are many aspects of PCOS and if you can get it under control now, ttc may not be such a big problem for you later.
Hope this answers your question..
Good luck
Clara x
